Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue
Fire Chief Keith Bryer has been in the fire service for over 28 years. His career has been spent with Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue, where he began as a volunteer in 1989 prior to being hired in 1990. Before his appointment as Fire Chief in September 2016, Chief Bryer held numerous positions within the Department, including, Firefighter/Paramedic, Chief Fire Inspector, Division Chief of EMS, and Deputy Chief of Operations.
Under Chief Bryer’s leadership, the Department was awarded their third international accreditation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence’s Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI). Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue is known for providing cutting-edge emergency medical services and Chief Bryer has been instrumental in developing life-saving patient protocols founded upon evidencebased medicine in partnership with the Department’s Medical Director, Dr. Kenneth Scheppke, M.D. In collaboration with Dr. Scheppke, Chief Bryer has co-authored several articles for EMS World magazine and an abstract published in the Journal of the American Heart Association.
Chief Bryer holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Northwood University and Associate of Science degrees in Emergency Medical Services and Fire Science Technology from Palm Beach State College. He obtained his Chief Fire Officer designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence in 2017.
